Why our soap feels so different
Every batch of our goat milk soap begins with the memory of Grandma at her wood-fired stove, stirring a big black pot with steady hands, her apron dusted with lye and speckled with dried herbs from the garden. Grandma’s recipe wasn’t written down—it was etched into her daily life. She measured oils by their weight in her hands and poured fresh goat milk straight from the pail, still warm from the morning milking.
It was a ritual. Coconut and olive oils, bartered from neighbors or saved from rare trips to town, were combined with care. The lye, made from wood ash, was dissolved slowly and carefully, a task not to be rushed. Then came the goat milk—the star of the recipe—stirred in slowly to keep its creaminess and natural sugars from scorching. The mixture was poured into wooden molds that Grandpa had made, left to set before being cut into fragrant bars.
Today, we still use her secrets. A handful of lavender or calendula from the garden finds its way into special batches, a nod to her belief that soap should smell as good as it feels. When we pour the mixture into molds, we can almost hear her voice reminding us to take our time and do it right.
Each bar is a testament to her resourcefulness and wisdom—a piece of history carrying the scent of hard work, love, and the land that sustains us. When customers ask why our soap feels so different, we tell them it’s because it’s made the way Grandma did: with care, respect for nature, and the knowledge that the simplest recipes are often the best.
